So this past weekend we got back on the road. It was a great time. Please buy a pass (on right column) and join us this weekend. I was happy to see some old faces and many new ones. Before I get started, one thing you should know is this: We will be available every Friday and Saturday from 7pm-1am through Labor Day weekend. We might do something in addition to that (Pride weekend service to/from Hillcrest, for example), but those will be our core hours the rest of the summer. I’ve been trying to convince Erin to write a blog post. Maybe if some of you comment on the FB page we’ll get her to write.
Yesterday there was a very cool news story on Channel 39 that a very talented videographer put together for Channel 39 and Channel 4. It came out well and they even mentioned a few of our route partners. Most importantly, I think they showed what we were offering and what we hope to do in our neighborhoods. I’ll link to it once I find it. What they couldn’t catch, because it didn’t happen until Friday night, was this
Yep, we welcomed the talented Greg Gibson onto the bus after his show at Lestat’s. And he and Frank didn’t disappoint. This was really cool, we’ve been wanting to find ways to promote and support local artists and musicians–and we are pretty much open to your creativity, so email me if you’ve got a cool idea for how to create something on the Park-2-Park. We’ve been watching the folks over at Holiday Matinee and like the stuff they are in to, so it’s fun to welcome creative and interesting ideas. In advance of their show at Pride, I think Rio Pelligroso is going to hop on and have a little fun next Friday. Check our Facebook page for details.
Most of the live music will be later in the evening so that our dinner set can get around comfortably. Plus, being a part of live music shows seems to be more appropriate later in the night. I’d love to do a roving art show. And don’t get mad at me if I do a showing of Beer Wars, complete with petitions to support our local craft beer. I’m serious about us not being a booze cruise, but I also really like beer and the cool things that honest brewers and pubs in the area are trying to create. Maybe I’ll wait until closer to Stone’s big shindig in August.
One final note, you may notice that I often give shameless plugs to folks like SD Urban and SD Dialed In and Urbanist Guide. The reason for this is simple, I like what they do and they have very useful and helpful information about our neighborhoods. No one source of fun or news is going to be all things to all people, so I want to make it easy for you to find blogs and sites with good information on San Diego’s best neighborhoods and best shows.
